Philosophy and Pranayama
Peter Cohen is Australia’s senior-most teacher trainer in Mark Whitwell’s Heart of Yoga. An inspirational speaker, Peter encourages breath-focused movement as an embrace of life. His yoga is the intimate union of traditional Tibetan yoga and the world-renowned yoga of Krishnamacharya. He is senior accredited in 3 yoga lineages over 2 decades.
Anatomy and Physiology
Nina begun her teaching career when she entered into her apprenticeship under Eugenie Knox and Johannes Mochayedi. She spent several years observing and assisting while teaching the occasional class and gradually entering into a more formalised teaching role. Pretty quickly she found that teaching casual drop in classes in a big city was only one facet of guiding others on their path of yoga, and she began to facilitate teacher trainings and immersions overseas where students were able to drop into their practice more deeply and with more focus.
Being present to and assisting others in their development and growth is one of the most enriching experiences of teaching for Nina. It’s an intimate and empowering process which she enjoys facilitating.
Nina is excited to be involved in the GSY community.
Ethics, Social Change, Living Yoga
Annie was drawn to yoga because of a love of movement. She quickly started pursuing what lay beneath the poses as various teachers and texts evoked curiosity. She has remained interested not just in the benefits of consistent practice, but in understanding how the practice leads to a sense of ease and contentment. Psychology study has instilled a particular interest in the relationship between Yoga and emotional wellbeing. Annie’s love of movement means she finds yoga a great platform for self-inquiry and finds the holistic approach of yoga an accessible technique for achieving a greater level of self-inquiry and connection.
Kirsty was motivated to complete her first training to explore her own personal practice, the style assisted her to slow down and begin to acknowledge and connect with subtle sensations in the body, there was never an intention to teach. Her favourite part about teaching is offering a space for people to relax, a place to calm the nervous system and strengthen their relationship with the body and the mind. She is excited to share what she has to offer, and to promote individuality and passion when offering a yoga class to our community.
Indrani Parker was born and raised in the US within an interfaith spiritual community whose focus is compassion towards others and ourselves and being of service to others. This upbringing and exposure to a variety of cultural backgrounds, religions and needs became the foundation for her studies and life path. She has studied a variety of styles of yoga, including Anusara, Hatha, Vinyasa and restorative styles. Now as a yoga teacher and doula, she is excited and grateful to be able to work with the community in such intimate ways, providing support in areas where it’s needed and wanted and continually learns and grow through her work. She is passionate about community and sees her work as an offering of emotional, physical and potentially spiritual support.
