Lucy's bio

With an intuitive touch and a balanced variety of skills and treatment styles I deliver a very unique healing experience. My foundation is strong with its roots in Oriental Philosophy and practice, which is strengthened by my knowledge and skills of meridian therapy and my specialised massage techniques.

Over the last eight years I have completed a Bachelor of Health Science- Acupuncture and a Diploma of Remedial massage. I have recently returned from an overseas internship in a Chinese medical hospital and University, where I have witnessed the successful integration of western and traditional medicines.

With my firm belief in the power of nature and human touch I have also taken courses in Reiki, Qi Gong, Hot stone therapy and Hawaiian Lomi Lomi Massage. With a thirst for more knowledge and skills I have seeked out many Japanese acupuncturists whom I have trained with, developing my treatment approach and style, with a strong focus on pelvic re-alignment and the use of moxibustion. With my training and experience over the years, coupled with my intuitive understanding of people, I believe that with my open, kind and understanding manner along side my full vibrant health and enjoyment of life I have an ability to understand others energetics and an ability to engage and transform any disharmonies

It is my intention to nurture your nature by treating you as the whole connected being that you are. As you are a reflection of nature and in nature there is no separation, just a constant flow of energy coming from the one source.

As your practitioner it is my focus to Re-connect, Re-plenish and ultimately Re-balance your being.

Life is energy. Without it nothing moves.. nothing rests. As an oriental medicine practitioner, my only desire is to facilitate the movement of energy, with myself and each person I encounter.

Acupuncture and Moxibustion

Oriental Medicine is an ancient medical system that takes a deep understanding of the laws and patterns of nature and applies them to the human body. It is a complete medical system that has been practiced for thousands of years.
The true foundation of Oriental Medicine is Qi, which loosely translates as vital energy. Qi is considered to be the force that animates and informs all things. In the human body Qi flows through meridians, or energy pathways creating a continuous circuit linking internal organs and connecting the interior with the exterior. Dis-ease occurs when there is deficiency or excess of internal organs and disruption to this flow in the meridians. By stimulating key points on the body with needles, moxa or massage, internal organs are tonified, excesses are dispersed, blockages are removed and imbalances corrected, restoring harmony, balance and health.
At the heart of Oriental Medicine is the tenet that the root cause of illness, not there symptoms, must be treated. Therefore it is holistic in its approach as it views every aspect of the person- mind, body, spirit and emotions- as part of one complete circle. Therefore, as your practitioner, I will take a full diet & lifestyle consultation and tongue and pulse diagnosis to assess the quality and strength of yin & yang, hot & cold, internal & external dis-ease states and deficient or excess conditions. Lucy will then make a diagnosis and choose a treatment approach according to your individual needs.

Remedial/Deep Tissue massage

This massage focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue, targeting more specific areas of muscle tightness and restrictions. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body. Direct deep pressure is applied to acupuncture points and along the natural flow of the meridians, eliminating knots and scar tissue caused by blood and Qi stagnation along the energy pathways. Lucy Gives a unique deep tissue massage as she incorporates her knowledge and awareness of the meridian systems and acupuncture points to address internal disharmonies along with external musculoskeletal tension and misalignment.

Lomi Lomi Massage

Lomi Lomi originated in the south pacific and was traditionally used during rites of passage as a transformational massage and healing system. What makes lomi lomi such a special style is the combination of movement, rhythm, breath, energy and massage, which ultimately leads to very powerful releases at all levels. This treatment is done primarily using the entire arm span, including forearms and elbows with long flowing strokes sweeping across the entire span of the body, moving stagnation at all levels- emotionally, physically and spiritually. Lomi lomi can be practiced as relaxation or deep tissue.

Hot Stone Massage

Hot stone massage is a unique treatment that when combined with the powerful ancient techniques of Hawaiian lomi lomi, it has the ability to re-connect us with nature, offering a sense of sensual sacredness and a unique moment that enhances our awareness and brings us closer to our true essence.
By combining the long rhythmic strokes of a Hawaiian style massage with the gliding of hot stones along the body, this treatment has made hot stone therapy one of the most requested massage treatments around the world
Hot stone massage is unique, as the heat of the basalt stones warms the skin, which allows for absorption of moisturising and therapeutic oils, while simultaneously preparing the musculature of the body so the therapist can work into the deeper muscle layers.

This treatment is unforgettable and truly beautiful.

Tui na- Chinese remedial massage

Tuina is an oriental bodywork therapy that has been used in china for thousands of years. Tuina uses the Traditional Chinese Medical Theory of Qi flow through the meridians or energy pathways in the body. Through the application of massage and acupressure along these meridians and acupuncture points, either as a dry massage or with minimal oil, Tuina seeks to move any stagnation, warm any cold, supplement any deficiency and ultimately establish a more harmonious flow of qi through the meridians. Tuina is unique in its focus on specific problems in the body, both internal and external, by working the specific meridians involved, making it more specific to your needs and therefore more therapeutic and beneficial for your entire being.
