Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)

In the 8 week MBSR Program you will develop life long mindfulness skills that will enhance your wellbeing, resilience and quality of life, even when facing stress, illness, injury, relationships issues, or simply the challenging demands of everyday life.

THE MBSR PROGRAM INVOLVES:

 8 Weekly sessions of 2.5hrs
 1 Full day silent retreat
 Carefully guided mindfulness meditation practices
 45 minutes of home practice to support the process of cultivating mindfulness
 Facilitated discussion, group activities and brief lectures
 Exploring patterns of thinking, feeling and action, and the process of transforming them
 Mindfulness Yoga and Movement
 Daily home assignments

 WEEK 2 (20th October): Perception and how we make sense of the world
 WEEK 3 (27th October): Practice, Practice, Practice
 WEEK 4 (3rd November): Investigating stressful experience and approaching the difficult
 WEEK 5 (10th November): Finding another place to stand
 RETREAT (12th November): The Day of Mindfulness Retreat
 WEEK 6 (17th November): Interpersonal Mindfulness
 WEEK 7 (24th November): Applying mindfulness
 WEEK 8 (1st August): Making Mindfulness a part of your life

MBSR HISTORY AND THE BENEFITS:

The MBSR Program was first developed by Professor Jon Kabat-Zinn in 1979 at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. This program is now highly renowned and taught all around the world supporting people to learn mindfulness skills to effectively manage their stress. The Program has undergone extensive research over the past 35years, which has revealed significant benefits, including:

There will be a complimentary information session held on the 22nd September from 6.30 – 7.30pm which we encourage you to attend to learn more about the course and ask questions.
