Patrick has been teaching yoga since 2004. He has studied with renowned teachers both in and outside Australia, and draws on a variety of different influences in his teaching. In his classes he utilizes a range of different practices, from the physically challenging to the more subtle. However, he is also mindful of the fact that the practice is there to serve us, and not the other way around; what is most important is the intention and understanding we bring to and cultivate through the practice, whatever that practice may be.
While continually exploring the tradition of yoga, he also recognizes its constantly evolving nature, and sees his role as one of adapting to contemporary circumstances while still honouring past tradition. In teaching, he is guided by the great Krishnamacharya’s maxim, ” Teach what is inside you, not as it applies to you, but as it applies to the other”. As well as regular weekly classes in Melbourne, he also teaches weekend and week-long yoga and meditation retreats.
